The BNY Mellon Pre-Professional Program at the Schomburg Center offers paid part-time positions across several unique areas. The program helps college and graduate school students cultivate transferrable skills and gain professional experience rooted in a cultural institution. The duration of each position is typically one term. Each term candidates receive an orientation, on-the-job training, mentorship opportunities and workshops with leaders from the New York Public Library and greater New York City community. Participating students are eligible for college credit, but the conferral of credit is not a program requirement.
This position is available in fall 2017 through mid-spring 2018, for approximately 17 weeks.
Position – Education/Teen Curators Pre-Professional
The Schomburg Center is looking for a highly organized, motivated college or graduate student to work part-time as a paid pre-professional focusing on youth education programs. Reporting to the Lead Teacher for Teen Curators, you will encounter opportunities to experience culturally focused arts education, hands-on project-based learning, and out-of-school time youth education. You will also have opportunities to discuss your career goals and receive professional guidance.
