OST, Out of School Time

Overview

The OST, "Out of School Time" after school programming directly addresses the Library’s mission: to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen our communities. Through these programs, NYPL brings together students of all ages to help them work together closely, with the Library’s expert guidance, to achieve their academic goals.

BridgeUp, is a College Prep Program, which builds a supportive network of students from under-served communities through developing cohorts of high school graduates who are prepared to thrive in college and career. The College Prep Program has created a network of safe spaces that allow students to come together to develop their individual passions and creativity, while helping them succeed both academically and socially.  With the success of each student, the program aims to bridge the opportunity divide, close the achievement gap, and transform lives.

Each site is managed by a Helen Gurley Brown Education Fellow who serves as a mentor, educator, and skill builder to participants.
