The Library Shop is a profit center and a first floor showcase for millions of visitors to this landmark building. Its selection of books and book-related items as well as
branded NYPL merchandise have made it a one-of-a-kind destination for tourists from around the world.
The Associate Manager of Receiving (AMR) heads and participates in the department responsible for processing of inventory (approximately two million items a year) from delivery to the sales floor. Specifically he/she (a) receives merchandise (a four to six part process), (b) restocks the sales floor, and (c)warehouses inventory overstock, packaging and shop materials. The AMR also heads and participants in processing shipments going out from the shop to customers and vendors (for returns, damages, etc.) and handles transfers. The AMR ensures that all merchandise is tagged according to buyer and sales staff requirements; and all overstock areas are well organized and easily accessible to staff.
