  • Overview

    The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts is located at Lincoln Center and houses one of the world's most extensive combinations of circulating, reference, and rare archival collections on the performing arts. 

    This Page position is in support of the Administration office of the Library for the Performing Arts. This is mostly an office position that happens to be in a library - the Administration Pages don't engage in much library-specific activity and the duties are mostly administrative.

    We seek a person who can come in for at least two days a week, with the caveat that the maximum number of hours in a week can only total 19. Those hours would generally be between 9 and 6 on weekdays, although occasional evenings may be requested. The ability to be here for a whole work day is preferable, though not essential.

    Principal Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Assistant to the Director of LPA (Library for the Performing Arts), the Page will:

    • Copy, scan and file documents
    • Update databases
    • Research sundry questions
    • Run errands
    • Proofread
    • Maintain calendars
    • Answer the phone if the Assistant to the Director isn't available
    • Take and convey messages
    • Draft documents
    • Perform other related tasks as needed

    • Ability to accurately and efficiently sort and arrange items in alphanumeric order
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a diverse patronage
    • Superb interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
    • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism
    • Basic computer and basic technology skills such as Microsoft Office Suite and Google Applications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Skill to extrapolate from past examples of tasks and reports in order to accomplish current tasks and updates
    • Ability to remember what was done previously and remember where the directions are stowed
