The New York Public Library is building a large-scale OST presence throughout its three boroughs, where we serve approximately 20,000 children and youth every day. To serve this group, we are building a team of talented, committed and enthusiastic educators who recognize the NYPL’s role in enriching the lives of the young people we serve.
BridgeUp chooses small cohorts of students in the 8th grade and provides academic, college prep, life skills and other services through the 12th grade with the goal of graduating these students with the “21st Century skills” essential to thriving in college and career.
Each branch site is managed by a Helen Gurley Brown Education Fellow who serves as a mentor, educator, and skill builder to participants. Supervised by a Lead Tutor, Level I College Tutors will provide “homework help” directly to students and assist the Lead Tutor in implementing academic lessons and activities that are of high interest and relevance to the students served.
