  • Overview

    The HR Service Center supports the Total Rewards’ mission in making the Library the best place to work. The HRSC provides administrative and first line support in various initiatives to provide a one stop and shop service for internal and external customers.

     

    The HR Service Center Associate provides operational and technical support for the Human Resources Department.  The Associate serves as the first point of contact for HR inquiries and daily processing of employee event transactions, and ensures that  processes and transactions are processed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner. The Associate supports staff members on a variety of Human Resources programs and provides counsel and direction to useful resources to staff as appropriate.

    Principal Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Associate Director, Benefits, the HR Service Center Associate will:

    • Answer HR-related and policy questions and consults with other areas within the library on issue resolution, partnering with Centers of Expertise and HR Business Partners as necessary
    • Log and update inquiries, issue resolution, and status into workflow tracking system
    • Inputs data in the various HR systems ensuring accuracy and data integrity (ie pension membership, benefits enrollment, personal data changes, etc.)
    • Serve as a backup for background verifications with the vendor and associated tasks, including serving as a liaison between vendor and HR Business Partners on status, adverse action, and employment eligibility
    • Assist with managing the Library’s tuition assistance application program and provides support to employees through the application and payment processes
    • Maintain and audit staff member files in accordance with record retention and internal audit policy
    • Assist in the continuous development and improvement of processes, continually looking for opportunities to streamline and improve internal procedures
    • Meet all service level agreements such as first call resolution, average answer speed, call quality and provide regular updates to HR Business Partners
    • Assist with identifying, implementing and memorializing practices designed to streamline and improve internal procedures
    • May supervise project work performed by Pages
    • Perform additional related duties as required

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and 1 year of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
    • 1-2 years of human resources experience in an office environment
    • Excellent customer service and the ability to deal effectively and courteously with employees and the general public
    • Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including the ability to explain complex processes to employees at all levels
    • Great organizational skills and the ability to complete work with a strong attention to detail
    • Experience performing data entry and processing high volumes of information and the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively utilize resources to resolve issues
    • The ability to use discretion and judgement and maintain a high level of confidentiality
    • Strong technology and computer skills, including Google applications and intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Benefits and leave administration experience preferred
    • Familiarity with HRIS systems preferred (Workday, Applicant Tracking, Learning Management and Performance Management)

    • May require travel throughout the NYC boroughs
    • May require moving about inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
