The Humanities and Social Sciences Research Division serves the core research function of the New York Public Library as the central hub for researchers entering into our extraordinarily deep and broad holdings. Our expert staff partners with researchers to illuminate the path to millions of collection items, ensuring their seamless and timely access in our magnificent reading rooms, and through this dynamic interaction, positioning these raw materials for integration and transformation into new works.
Reporting to the Managing Research Librarian of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Division, the Librarian II in General Humanities provides excellent public service at the service desks of the Bill Blass Public Catalog Room, Rose Main Reading Room, the Microforms Room, and the DeWitt Wallace Periodicals Room. The position plays an important role in reference services. This staff member also plays a role in assisting visitors to the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
