  • Overview

    PACIRC manages the checking out and return of LPA circulating items and ensures that returned materials are reshelved in a timely and orderly manner so that are readily available to patrons and are easily locatable. PACIRC also maintains the first floor copying machines and the Internet section. Through its functions, PACIRC keeps library users engaged with the collections and reliant on its services, therefore enhancing the value of circulation materials and library services. This delivers a positive user experience, which keeps existing library users returning and attracts new users.

     

    The Research Assistant will be dedicated to preparing the NYSCA Memory Archive for public use. Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Reference and Access Service, the Research Assistant will employ various means to make the Archive more discoverable and accessible. The position will also assist in the promotion of the Archive’s availability.

     

    This position is temporary through December 2018.

    Principal Responsibilities

    • Organizing the collection to enhance patron accessibility
    • Processing of AV archive materials
    • Creation of NYSCA Memory Archive finding aid
    • Assisting in planning and implementing promotion of Archive, including promotion of NYSCA Memory Archive through social media and other means
    • Performs other related duties as required

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required. Experience in a library setting preferred
    • Experience in using social media, online tools, and/or mobile technology.
    • Demonstrated successful interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills,
    • Strong organization and planning skills, including the ability to perform multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
    • Successfully demonstrated ability to work independently or in a team environment.
    • Good computer skills.
    • Demonstrated flexibility, reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in handling archival materials preferred
    • Experience in handling audio/visual materials preferred
    • ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies, or enrollment in an ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies program preferred
